Assisting Special Rescue Teams Practice Test

On-scene safety in the Incident Command System is monitored by the Safety Officer. This role is dedicated to watching for hazards, assessing risk, and developing protective measures so responders can work with minimal danger. The Safety Officer continually evaluates conditions, enforces safety practices and PPE, and has the authority to stop work if safety is at risk, coordinating with the Incident Commander to adjust operations as needed. The Incident Commander oversees overall incident priorities and resource management, while the Public Information Officer handles communications with the public and media, and the Liaison Officer coordinates with other agencies. None of those roles focus primarily on monitoring on-scene safety.
